Just two days ago, I said I didn’t know what success looked like.

Today I do.

Creators often say, and I’ve said it countless times, that if we reach one person it will have been worth it. But let me let you in on a little secret. That’s almost always for show.

There’s never a moment we’re satisfied with just 100 people. And when we reach 100 people, that number becomes 1,000. Then a million. It’s a yardstick that has no limit to how far it can stretch.

We say it because we don’t actually expect it to happen. We don’t think what we create will truly change anyone’s life.

That’s what I believed. Until today.

I mentioned Hazel in What Gen Z Taught Me About Healing, but at the time, I didn’t know her story.

This morning she sent me a very kind message explaining what her life has been like as of late, and how finding 40 to 40 has changed it for the better. I’ll keep that message between us.

But what I will share is the beautiful video she made, and the fact that, somehow, these messages gave her the courage to get the help she needs.

I am forever grateful to you, Hazel, not for your kind words. Not for sharing my project for others to see. But for being strong, and finding the inspiration (you have no idea how much it means to me that you found that inspiration in me) you need to pursue the life and the care you deserve.

You will forever have a fan (and friend) in me.
